Camporee - Bort meadow - May 3-4, 2008

On Saturday we met at the Montclair teachers parking lot at 6:45 am. From ther we got into cars and left for Bort Meadow.

When we arrived at the staging area for Bort Meadow, we got our packs out and hiked three miles into camp. When we arrived at camp we got a patrol check and went into camp to choose our patrol campsite.

Next we went to an assembly and ate lunch. After lunch we began the camporee doing 12 challenging activities. The camporee activities ended at 5:00 pm and we headed back to camp to cook and eat dinner.

After dinner we went to a camporee campfire where we saw different skits and shows. From there, we headed back to our campsite and went to bed. The next morning we woke up, made breakfast, packed up and left! Great Camp!! ---- Aaron L.

Malakoff Diggins - February 9-10, 2008

Malakoff Diggins was a camping trip that took place in the snow. It was quite a drive to get there. When we first arrived we had a snowball fight that lasted for about two hours.

After everyone arrived we were divided into our cabins. Then one adult brought out several sleds. We had some of the older scouts (Jake and Jacob) go down the sled run first to start a sled run path. Then the rest of the scouts started to go down the sled runs. We stopped around 4:30 to start dinner.

We spent the next three hours making dinner and hanging out with our cabin group. My group's stove barely worked and we got smoked out. We eventually ate dinner.

The next morning we had a two hour snowball fight. It lasted from about 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Then we packed up and left. I was dropped off at my home. It was a good trip. ---- Andrew W-O.

Marin Headlands - January 26-27, 2008

The troop played tag and ran around, then we ate our lunches. Next, we hiked over to the old bunker and played "Capture the Flag" for several hours. Then we returned to the hostel. There we spent time in the basement playing foos-ball and ping-pong. We also enjoyed wrestling matches in the backroom.

For dinner we had spaghetti made by our designated chefs. We then had a good nights sleep in the beds of the Marin Headlands Hostel.

The next day we had eggs and sausages for breakfast. We also had bagels. After breakfast we left Marin Headlands for home. ---- Zane S.

Pampanito - December 14-15, 2007

The Pampanito outing was a very interesting trip. On this trip, we stayed in a WWII Navy submarine. There were two large details unique to this trip, these were both evident during the trip.

First detail was we slept in shifts. While most of the scouts would be asleep, one shift would be awake doing things that real submariners do, like keep watch and swab decks. The second difference was we were not alone. On this trip we were hosting a group of Cub scouts in order to get them interested in our troop when they finished Cub scouts. All in all, it was a very fun and educational trip.

Los Mochos - November 10-11, 2007

On this trip, one of the most memorable differences was that instead of setting up a rain fly and sleeping in tents, we had access to a campground with various buildings. Such as a kitchen and a Bunk cabin.

We had great fun playing Capture the Flag, Zorch (Which is the best game ever) and Choose vs Control.

Scouts also held a contest on performing skits. Jose and Jake were the winners. We also had access to an archery range and a football field. All in all this was a pretty fun trip. ---- Ben J.

Yosemite - October 5-7, 2007

This was an incredibly breath taking trip. We arrived at night and setup our tents and spent the rest of the evening looking for tent better tent locations.

The next day we went for a hike on the “Mist Trail”. We saw a water fall and got to the top of the smaller peaks where we had lunch. There were among other things, lots of ground squirrels.

This was an amazing trip that was fun to go on.-----Ben J.
