PHILMONT HIGH ADVENTURE |
|
From July 16 through July 30, 1999, Troop 202 sent two crews totalling 17 Scouts and adults to High Adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. We flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico and took a four hour drive to Cimarron. The next day we began our preparation in Base Camp, going through logistics, medical, and finalizing details. The next day we had our pictures taken and each crew set out on its separate itinerary. Upon returning to Base Camp, we turned in our equipment and attended an evening campfire after having dinner in the Saint James Hotel. The next day we toured the Villa Philmonte and had lunch in Cimarron before driving back to Albuquerque and flying home. Crew 7-16 F1 consisted of seven Scouts and two adult leaders. Their itinerary included Cathedral Rock, Lambert's Mine, through Cypher's Mine to Mt. Phillips, through Clear Creek to Porcupine, through Phillips Junction to Beaubien for a layover day, Fish Camp, Abreu, Urraca, Miner's Park, and over the Tooth Ridge to Base Camp. Crew 7-16 F2 consisted of six Scouts and two adults. Their itinerary went through Ute Springs, Sawmill, Mt. Phillips, through Clear Creek to Comanche Camp, Apache Springs for a layover day, Fish Camp, Abreu, Aguila, and through Bear Caves and Crater Lake to Miners Park. From there they went over the Tooth Ridge with a side trip to the Tooth of Time and on to Base Camp.
