PHILMONT HIGH ADVENTURE |

From July 16 through August 2, Troop 202 sent two crews totallyng 18 Scouts and adults to High Adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. We flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico and drove to Cimarron. The next day we began our preparation in Base Camp, going through logistics, medical, finalizing details, and getting our pictures taken. The next day each crew set out on its separate itinerary. Upon returning to Base Camp, we turned in our equipment and attended an evening campfire after having dinner in the Saint James Hotel. The next day we toured the Villa Philmonte and had lunch in Cimarron before driving back to Albuquerque and flying home. Crew 7-21 H1 consisted of 5 Scouts and three adult leaders, one being a 19-year old former Scout who had been to Philmont once before. Their itinerary included Vaca Camp, Deer Lake, Ute Gulch, Lambert's Mine, going through Cypher's Mine to Mt. Phillips, Porcupine, Beaubien for a layover day, Abreu, Miner's Park, and over the Tooth Ridge to Base Camp. Crew 7-21 H2 consisted of seven Scouts and three adults. Their itinerary went through Lovers Leap, Crater Lake, Black Mountain, Beaubien for a layover day, going through Crooked Creek to Wild Horse, Going through Clear Creek to Mt. Phillips, Cimmarroncito for a second layover day, Tooth Ridge Camp, and then back to Base Camp.
