PHILMONT HIGH ADVENTURE |

From July 12 through July 25, Troop 202 sent two crews totalling 22 Scouts and adults to High Adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. We flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico and took a four hour drive to Cimarron. After arriving we had dinner at the St. James Hotel. The next day we began our preparation in Base Camp, going through logistics, medical, and finalizing details. The next day we had our pictures taken and each crew set out on its separate itinerary. Upon returning to Base Camp, we turned in our equipment and attended an evening campfire after having dinner in the Saint James Hotel. The next day we toured the Villa Philmonte and had lunch in Cimarron before driving back to Albuquerque and flying home. Crew 7-13 F1 consisted of seven Scouts and four adult leaders. Their itinerary included Lover's Leap, Urraca Camp, Bear Coves, Agua Fria, two days at Beaubien including a layover day, to Crooked Creek after meeting the other crew at Phillips Junction, Clear Creek, Red Hills with a side trip to Mt. Phillips, through Black Mountain to North Fork Urraca, and over the Tooth Ridge to Base Camp. Crew 7-13 F2 consisted of eight Scouts and three adults. Their itinerary went through Vaca Camp, Deer Lake with a stop at Harlan for shotgun shooting, Ute Gulch, going through Cimarroncito and the Hunting Lodge to Lambert's Mine, through Cyphers Mine to Mt. Phillips, through Clear Creek to Porcupine, to Beaubien for a layover day and a side trip to Trail Peak. From there they went to Abreu, through Crater Lake to Miner's Park, and over the Tooth Ridge to Base Camp.
